Lessons from John Quincy Adams

The election has taken place and, regardless of the outcome, there will be many who did not feel as if it went their way.  In fact, you may be experiencing deep discouragement and despair. You may even wonder if it is over for America.  I would like to offer a beacon of hope with a little story of John Quincy Adams, U.S. president from 1825-1829.  He was the only president who served in Congress after his presidency and he did so for 17 years.  Adams was a representative from Massachusetts in a congress that was 80 percent pro slavery.  He worked tirelessly to end that evil institution.
